About Us

The Placitas Community Library

is a grassroots effort to establish a permanent library in Placitas. We engage the community by bringing residents together to participate in establishing and maintaining the library and its collections. We believe that our library contributes positively to the development of community pride and spirit. Our motto is, “Una Placita Para Todos — A Place for Everyone.”

We provide and promote open and equal access to our resources and services in order to meet the informational, educational, technological, and cultural needs of our diverse New Mexico community in a welcoming, convenient, and responsive manner.

OUR HISTORY

"Una Placita Para Todos — A Place for Everyone"

Our History

The library opened in 2004 in a rented space, then moved to its current location in 2010. We now have a paid director and a staff of more than 70 volunteers.

Funding

We believe that our library is an essential building block in developing a sense of community pride and spirit. Learn more about how we are funded.

Future Growth

Our fundraising goal to cover the library expansion is $993,000, and we are well on our way. The next chapter depends on you.

Library Board

Board meetings are open to the public. Meeting notices and agendas are posted at the library and linked to the Library Board page.
