SUMMARY:September 2026 - "Vibrant Souls:  A Dia de los Muertos Celebration"
DESCRIPTION:Day of the Dead is typically celebrated on November 1 and 2\, coinciding with All Saints’ Day. \nIt is filled with happiness and love as family members and friends of all ages come together to celebrate and honor the lives of those who have passed away. It is celebrated through storytelling\, music\, and dancing – believing that the spirits return to visit the living. \nAltars\, known as “ofrendas”\, are adorned with flowers\, food\, and items of the deceased to welcome their spirit. Marigolds are used to decorate altars and are believed to please the spirits. They also signify the beauty and fragility of life. \nAll forms of art representing this tradition: altars\, painted faces\, colorful flowers\, and painted skulls are an integral part of this celebration and will be on display during this exhibit. \nCoordinators: Geri Verble & Katie Thomas \nArtist Reception: Friday\, October 2\, 2026\, 5:00 – 6:30 pm

SUMMARY:Financial Literacy--Dealing with Scams
DESCRIPTION:The Placitas Community Library in partnership with AltaLune’s financial advisers Kelley and Ric Tredwin will run four programs September thru December to help attendees increase their knowledge and comfort with finances.  All ages and both men and women are welcome to join. The first program deals with FINANCIAL CLUTTER\, SCAMS\, and ORGANIZING YOUR FINANCIAL LIFE.
