Shadow Puppet Workshops
Matt Sandbank’s virtual Shadow Puppet Workshops where children learn the Science of Shadow Puppets, Poetry Writing, and Shadow Puppet Creation. There are 3 workshops about 30 min. each. Appropriate for ages 7-11 and also for younger children with assistance from an adult. This is a very creative and unusual program. We hope you will take part. Matt is a teacher, a poet, and puppeteer. Thanks to the Placitas Artist Series for funding this program.
Get together the following supplies before starting to watch the workshops:
- a flashlight or a small table lamp as a light source
- cardstock or empty cereal box
- 2-3 flexistraws
- 4-5 small brass paper fasteners/brads
- scotch tape
- 2-3 rubber bands
- scissors
- single hole punch (ink pen may be used instead with adult help for puncturing hole in cardboard/cardstock)
- For a makeshift shadow screen, a white bedsheet thrown across a couple of chairs or the edge of a table works well.
