Our Story

The Placitas Community Library is a grassroots effort to establish a permanent library in Placitas. We engage the community by bringing residents together to participate in establishing and maintaining the library and its collections. We believe that our library contributes positively to the development of community pride and spirit.

We provide and promote open and equal access to our resources and services in order to meet the informational, educational, technological, and cultural needs of our diverse community in a welcoming, convenient, and responsive manner.

Our motto is, “Una Placita Para Todos — A Place for Everyone.”

Creatures - Judith Roderick According to Kermit, “It’s not easy being green.” But while it’s hard to argue with the world’s most famous frog, his plaint offered a welcome challenge to artists whose work appears in “Verde: The Color of Life,” the March/ April exhibition at the Placitas Community Library (PCL). The Placitas Community Library is pleased to announce a tree care seminar on Saturday, February 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Collin meeting room. The seminar will be conducted by Thomas Neiman, an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist. Tom will be discussing tree selection, how to plant, early care, and pruning. Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of the Placitas Community Library, performing day-to-day activities at the library such as assisting our patrons at the Help Desk, shelving materials, and cataloging. Volunteers also help with special events, art and design, landscaping, publicity, and more. All levels and types of skills are needed. If you would like to join us, we’d love to have you.
