 Una Placita Para Todos

Our Story

With federal, state and private grants and lots of fundraising by Placitas volunteers, the new library was built and opened in May 2009. A part-time library director and a part-time library administrator are the library’s only paid employees.

Approximately 85 volunteers keep the library open and functioning. The library is now a hub of community activity, providing educational, social and cultural activities for residents.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of the Placitas Community Library, performing day-to-day activities at the library such as assisting our patrons at the Help Desk, shelving materials, and cataloging. Volunteers also help with special events, art and design, landscaping, publicity, and more. All levels and types of skills are needed. If you would like to join us, we’d love to have you.

Our Community

Enjoy, support, (and submit!) art by local artists who address different themes throughout the year. Bonus: a portion of each sale supports the library.
