Our Story

The Placitas Community Library is a grassroots effort to establish a permanent library in Placitas. We engage the community by bringing residents together to participate in establishing and maintaining the library and its collections. We believe that our library contributes positively to the development of community pride and spirit.

We provide and promote open and equal access to our resources and services in order to meet the informational, educational, technological, and cultural needs of our diverse community in a welcoming, convenient, and responsive manner.

Our motto is, “Una Placita Para Todos — A Place for Everyone.”

Reaching Back, Looking Forward: A Virtual Art Gallery Exhibition

Get out your computers—it’s time to look at art. Due to Covid-19, the Placitas Community Library (PCL) Art Committee is taking its themed exhibition program online. Because the library and its Collin Room gallery are temporarily closed, the upcoming show “Reaching Back, Looking Forward,” featuring work by local talent will be a virtual one, debuting May 1, 2020 at PCLArt.com. Children’s Summer Reading Program: Imagine Your Story

June 1 @ 8:00 am - July 31 @ 5:00 pm

The Summer Reading program, "Imagine Your Story," will be online this summer during the months of June and July. Specific information on how to access the performances of a variety of programs will be on our website as will be dates, times, and other pertinent information. Some viewings will be recorded and some will be live. Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of the Placitas Community Library, performing day-to-day activities at the library such as assisting our patrons at the Help Desk, shelving materials, and cataloging. Volunteers also help with special events, art and design, landscaping, publicity, and more. All levels and types of skills are needed. If you would like to join us, we’d love to have you.
