2021 Virtual Summer Reading Program: “Tails and Tales”
The Placitas Library is inviting all communities to participate in our summer reading program, “Tails and Tales.”
The virtual programs start at 10 a.m. on Saturday mornings. There are three live programs that allow you to interact with the performers and ask questions. Also, there are two recorded programs you may watch as well. Programs are generally 40-45 minutes.
June 12 – Didgeridoo Down Under (live) with storyteller, Rob Thomas, “Tails and Tales from Australia”
The DDU Show is a high-energy, Australia-themed show that combines music, culture, comedy, storytelling and audience movement/participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years and is known for its otherworldly sound.
But DDU is much more than music. It’s interactive, educational, and motivational and super fun. You will learn about Aussie culture, animals and more, all while moving and grooving to the pulsing rhythm of the didge! Remember to bring the didge that you are going to make from the craft bag you receive when you register at the library. Rob will teach you how to play it! There is a recording for later viewing that will be similar to the live program.
