The Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS)

The Albuquerque Astronomical Society co-sponsors at least two Star Parties and Talks.  TAAS is a very active group of mostly amateur astronomers. With over 700 total members, The Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS) is one of the largest and most active astronomy clubs anywhere. They   truly embrace their motto “Observe – Educate – Have fun” with our own private observatory, frequent educational outreach events, and the camaraderie of amateur astronomers from all walks of life.

KUPR 99.9

KUPR supports PCL through interviews and public service announcements letting our community know activities happening at the Placitas Community Library and around this area. KUPR is a multi-cultural, low-power, FM radio station transmitting from the San Antonio de las Huertas Land Grant in the heart of Placitas, New Mexico. We serve nearby communities 24/7 with our broadcast including: Placitas, Bernalillo, Algodones, River’s Edge, Enchanted Hills, and the Pueblos of Santa Ana, Zia and San Felipe. PLUS, we stream worldwide at kupr.org. We are now licensed to continue broadcasting through 2029. Unlike NPR stations, low power community radio receives no public funding. We exist solely because our listeners support what we do.

Casa Rosa Food Pantry

Casa Rosa Food Pantry is an all-volunteer, community-supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a very simple charter; to provide adequate food and support to those in need within the Placitas community. If you or someone you know in Placitas could use some assistance with groceries or clothing, we're here to help.  Placitas is a community that helps one another towards a better quality of life.  Casa Rosa partners with Placitas Community Library on a holiday giving project annually.

Jardineros de Placitas

Jardineros de Placitas is a social, charitable and benevolent organization, providing its members with opportunities for meeting other Placitas residents and promoting the betterment of the greater Placitas community. Membership in the club is open to any resident of Placitas. Jardineros generously supports PCL children’s activities each year. Many Jardineros members are volunteers at the library as well.

Eastern Sandoval Citizens Association (ES-CA)

Eastern Sandoval County Citizens Association is an all-volunteer group of your neighbors, fellow residents and property owners in Placitas. As Placitas has no formal government or other structure to advocate for our community, we at ES-CA have joined together to protect our environment, quality of life, and property values.  Like many Placitas organizations ES-CA has its meetings at the Library and supports PCL through donations.

Las Placitas Association

Las Placitas Association works to protect our open spaces, wildlife, watersheds and the unique environmental and cultural richness of this area for today and future generations. We are currently either actively involved in or monitoring:

Forest Service’s Resource Management Plan, BLM’s Rio Puerco Resource Management Plan, energy corridor, gravel mining, and pipeline safety.

Placitas Artist Series (PAS)

PAS generously sponsors a number of activities for children and adult at the Library and around the Placitas area. The Placitas Artists Series is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering public appreciation of the performing and visual arts in Central New Mexico. Our mission is to present high-quality musical performances and art exhibits in a stimulating setting; to promote regional talent through community involvement in the arts; and to provide outreach programs to our community.

Placitas Garden Tour (PGT)

The Placitas Garden Tour organization is dedicated to putting on an annual ticketed tour of gardens in Placitas, NM. Proceeds benefit participating volunteer organizations - currently the Sandoval Master Gardeners and the Placitas Community Library.  The Library is a major hub of activity during the tour. The September Art Exhibit in the GLCR each year features the art and artist from the tour that year. Many PCL volunteers also volunteer for during the tour. PGT supports PCL with a generous donation each year as well.

Placitas Senior Center

Located in the heart of Placitas on Camino de las Huertas, the Senior Center offers a wide variety of services including exercise classes, lunches, meal delivery, ride, card making classes, beading classes, slump glass classes, computer classes and Project Linus.  On Monday afternoon each month they sponsor the showing of a movie at the Library.

Placitas Studio Tour (PST)

Their Mission is to promote the Placitas, New Mexico artist community by increasing the audience and customer base of the diverse fine arts and crafts created in Placitas, New Mexico, through an annual artist studio tour. The Placitas Artist Tour happens on Mother’s Day weekend each year.  PST partners with PCL in many ways and each May PCL displays an image from each artist on the tour in our exhibit in the GLCR.  In 2024 there were over 75 artists participating in the tour. PST also supports the library with a generous donation.
