Anna Rudolph is a Placitas songwriter with lots of street cred for the eight short years that she has been writing, playing and singing. With over two hundred original songs on her playlist, three CDs, several singles and ten nominations in various categories for a New Mexico Music Award (NMMA), Anna has immersed herself in various aspects of writing, singing and recording. In 2017, she won an NMMA for the Best Adult Contemporary Song and has been nominated for her music every year since she began writing and recording. Her music is on streaming sites around the world and she is an artist on Women of Substance Radio Podcasts.

She has attended songwriting classes with Shawn Colvin, Richard and Teddy Thompson, Larry Mitchell and Jill Sobule. She writes blues, Americana, roots, gospel, and jazz and plays electric and acoustic guitars. Her sultry voice and bluesy style give her a captivating presence. She writes and sings from the heart in a simple, but effective style.

Anna plays in various venues around Albuquerque. Please check out her website at AnnaRudolph.com for further biographical information and to listen to her music.

Here are the key points about the workshops:

  • Open to all levels
  • Two intertwined classes with a third optional performance class.
  • No experience writing a song or playing an instrument needed, though basic music theory is useful.
  • Classes will emphasize accessing creativity—finding the muse—and will include lyrics, song structure and arrangement.
  • This is a no fear, no pressure, just fun songwriting class.
  • Keyboard and guitars will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own instruments.
  • Participants should bring pencils, erasers and a pad or notebook—recording devices are also welcome.
  • There will be guest songwriters to discuss their points of view on the process of songwriting.

Who should attend?

Anyone with an interest in writing a song or who would even want to observe the class or learn more about the process is welcome. Everyone is a contributor; so experienced musicians are most welcome, as they will provide valuable insights and information to share.

Classes are Sunday, February 2 and February 9 from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. To sign up, please send a request to Anna Rudolph.

The class is limited to 12 persons.
