July Art Exhibit: “Sacred Places: Honoring Chacoan Culture”
Artist Reception: August 2, 5:00 -6:30 pm
Chaco Culture National Historical Park is considered to be the sacred ancestral homelands of the Hopi and Pueblo people.
Las Placitas Association sponsored an artists’ adventure in Chaco Canyon in late 2023. Sacred Places will feature works inspired by that trip, and is open to any artists similarly inspired.
The only limitation is that the work must be culturally sensitive and reflect the mysteries and stories of the Ancestral Puebloans that inhabited the canyons and it’s outliers.
The site became part of the National Park System in 1907, and was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site 80 years later.
