Stress Relief at Your Fingertips by Matri Murphy
Most of us living in this “modern” world are under chronic stress—this is known as “stress overload” and it’s something you feel everyday—this silently but continuously sabotages your well-being and limits access to a more fulfilling life.
Stress is a part of living. Chronic stress is very different than Acute stress. Acute stress is necessary for our survival. It’s the part of us that knows to run or stay very still when confronted with physical danger in our lives. Chronic stress inhibits our ability to come up with creative solutions when we’re faced with challenges.
Albert Einstein said it best…
‘Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.’
When you’re in a state of heightened physiological alertness, your brain’s creative center is deemed “non-essential” and shuts down. Your problem solving skills, creativity and intuition shut down, along with your ability to choose what’s most fulfilling for you. After releasing too much cortisol for too long, your body goes into “adrenal fatigue.” You feel depleted, exhausted, and depressed. Your decision-making skills are at an all time low, and your growing feeling of hopelessness is making everything even worse.
When using Tapping, which blends Western talk therapy with Eastern wisdom about acupressure, it’s been shown that there is a 24% decrease in cortisol (the stress hormone) after just one hour. Also, 72 genes have been shown to express differently after one hour of tapping.
Tapping also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a surprising, slightly strange and highly effective technique to significantly reduce chronic stress in your life.
And it’s literally is available to you at your fingertips.
