July/August: Raining Cats & Dogs
Exhibit Dates: July 19 - August 14
The idiom “raining cats and dogs” means it is raining extremely hard or pouring. The old fashion phrase may come from the Greek expression cata doxa, which means “contrary to experience or belief”.
Since our monsoons pour extremely hard, embrace the old saying and through your imagination depict the cats and dogs (domestic or wild) that catch your attention, provide companionship, or just give you a happy laugh.
All mediums are invited to participate in making all cats and dogs a beautiful expression of art.
Submissions accepted: April 18 – June 20
Coordinator: Sandy Johnson
September/October: Poetrees
Exhibit Dates: September 23 - October 13
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree….
Poems are made by fools like me.
But only God can make a tree.
Artists are urged to create a portrait of a tree or trees to explore the abstract essence of trees.
Working in whatever medium you desire—two- or three- dimensions—whether a poetic rendering of a favorite tree or a visual expression of concern for the future of forests around the world, now is the time to “hug a tree”.
Submissions accepted: June 20 – August 22
Coordinator: Rebecca Cohen
