Library Materials Pick-Up During Special Operating Hours & Meeting Room Open 3 Days Each Week

Update June 29, 2020. Beginning July 7, the library lobby will open during Special Operating Hours for book and DVD sales and the Collin Meeting Room will open for meetings of six or fewer attendees on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Due to the easing of Public Health Order restrictions for non-essential businesses, Placitas Community Library (PCL) will provide library materials pick-up during Special Operating Hours. Patrons can reserve items via the library catalog, by email, call, voicemail, or in-person. Beginning May 16, from 1-5 p.m., reserved items can be picked-up during Special Operating Hours:

  • Tuesdays 3-7 p.m.
  • Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Saturdays 1-5 p.m.

How do I reserve library items?

Please use one of the following five methods to place reserves on library materials:

From the PCL catalog (the most efficient method)

  1. Point your computer, tablet, or phone browser to catalog.placitaslibrary.com
  2. Log in to your account: enter your Full Name or Library Card Number and your Phone Number (without 505) or Password
  3. Find what you want to check-out
  4. Click or tap on the item that interests you
  5. Click or tap the “Reserve this item” button, confirm how you wish to be notified when the item is ready (email, text, or call) and click or tap the “Place Reserve” button
  6. To view, manage, or cancel your reserves click or tap on the “My Account” button at the top of the browser and then “Reserves/Requests”

By Email

  1. Email your item requests to: librarydirector@placitaslibrary.com
  2. Include your name, library card number, and the authors and titles of the items that you wish to reserve
  3. Library staff will enter your reserve requests

By Phone Call (during our Special Operating Hours)

  1. Call the Placitas Community Library during the Special Operating Hours at 867-3355
  2. Provide library staff with your name, library card number, and the authors and titles of the items that you wish to reserve
  3. Library staff will enter your reserve requests

By Voicemail

  1. Call the Placitas Community Library at 867-3355
  2. If the phone is not answered, after the greeting please provide your name, library card number, and the authors and titles of the items that you wish to reserve
  3. Library staff will enter your reserve requests

In-person

  1. Come to the Placitas Community Library during the Special Operating Hours with a written list of items that you want to have reserved
  2. All PCL staff will be wearing masks for your protection and we encourage our patrons to wear face coverings as well
  3. Go to the library entrance
  4. Place any returned items in the Book Return to the left of the entry door
  5. Take your place if there is a line
  6. Chairs are spaced six feet apart should you wish to sit
  7. Please maintain social distancing
  8. Continue towards the door keeping six feet between you and anyone ahead of you
  9. When you are the next to be assisted, please leave your list with staff. Ring the doorbell button on the door if staff is not aware that you are waiting
  10. Library staff will enter your reserve requests for you to pick-up on another day

How will I know when my reserved items are ready?

  1. Some items may be checked-out or have patron reservations ahead of yours, so please be patient
  2. You will receive a notification by email, text, or call
  3. After you receive a notification that your items are ready, come to the library to pick-up your items during the Special Operating Hours on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday

Exactly when and where can I pick-up my reserved items?

Beginning Saturday, May 16, you can pick-up reserved items at the library entrance during Special Operating Hours:

  • Tuesdays 3-7 p.m.
  • Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Saturdays 1-5 p.m.

What do I need to do after I arrive at the library to pick-up my reserved items during Special Operating Hours?

  1. Park your vehicle
  2. All PCL staff will be wearing masks for your protection and we encourage our patrons to wear face coverings as well
  3. Go to the library entrance
  4. Place any returned items in the Book Return to the left of the entry door
  5. Take your place if there is a line
  6. Chairs are spaced six feet apart should you wish to sit
  7. Continue towards the door keeping six feet between you and anyone ahead of you
  8. Enter the library lobby when it is your turn. Only one patron at a time can enter the lobby. Ring the bell at the door if staff is not aware that you are waiting
  9. Please show your library card, or other identification to library staff. 
  10. Please wait for your reserved materials
  11. Please maintain social distancing
  12. Staff will bring your reserved items
  13. Enjoy your library materials!

Special Operating Hours for library-materials-pick-up will continue until further notice.
