First Flea Market of 2018 will be May 26.
A new name, new coordinators — giving back to our community……
Held traditionally on the open field across from the Merc in Homestead Village, this year’s flea market has a new name, Placitas Community Flea Market, new coordinators, Jim and Nancy Holley and will be giving back to the community by featuring Placitas based non-profits/community organizations that are licensed with the State of New Mexico.
Jim and Nancy Holley have been regular vendors at the flea market for the past four years selling their steel designs and when it was announced last year that the Placitas Library would not be continuing the flea market in 2018, Jim and Nancy volunteered to continue the market that is hosted by the tenants of the Homestead Village. “Not only is the flea market a place to buy/sell but it’s a community gathering spot that many visit to see old friends and make new ones. Jim and I look forward to flea market Saturday mornings; it is always a surprise to see who is going to be selling and buying. It is like a bi-weekly block party,” Nancy says.
The Holley’s have put a new twist on the market; giving back to the community by offering FREE space at the flea market to Placitas based, State of NM licensed, non-profits/community organizations that would like to fund raise/bring awareness to their cause at the flea market. In addition to the free space, the vendor space fees will be donated to that organization for that particular Saturday’s flea market.
The flea market will be held twice a month, the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, from 7:00am – 2:00pm with opening day, Saturday, May 26, 2018 through the 4th Saturday of October 2018.
All Placitas based, non-profit/community organizations that would like to participate in the Placitas Community Flea Market and receive a free space must contact Nancy Holley to be put on the flea market calendar.
All flea market vendors/participants must supply their own tents, which must be weighted down and bring their own tables and chairs.
Vendor fee is $10.00 for a 10×10 space and spaces are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
NO food/beverages or firearms maybe sold at the flea market.
